PANTANAL is the largest floodplain of the planet, and UNESCO declares the place as World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve, the true wildlife sanctuary of South America.
Located the center of the continent, with an area of approximately 150.000 km², Pantanal consists of a transition area, containing elements of Cerrado, the Amazon and Atlantic forests, of Paraguayan Chaco and Caatinga. Such fantastic biodiversity includes approximately: 698 species of birds, 80 species of mammals, 26 of fish and 50 of reptiles.
From this self-sustainable lodge, you will have the opportunity to perform excellent birdwatching, walk on trails in primary forest and on suspended walkways over wet areas, practice canoeing, explore fields and forests on horseback, take day and night photo safaris in appropriate vehicles, and much more, everything with the permanent assistance of naturalist guides, specialized and fluent in several languages.

RESTAURANT
The Araras Eco Lodge follows the “Farm-to-Table” gastronomy concepts, utilizing the products from our farm and from the region.
The buffet offers a variety of tasty, nutritious, healthy and balanced dishes, with emphasis on regional cuisine, besides a great variety of salads and fresh vegetables.
A great part of food is produced on the farm, such as honey, milk, yogurt, cheese, beef, lamb and buffalo meat. All the breads, cakes, salty and sweet snacks are baked at the lodge, with little sugar and salt, and a lot of love.
They prioritize the purchase of local products, either organic or with low use of agrochemicals.
They meet almost all diets and food restrictions, such as vegetarian and vegan, gluten free, lactose free, among others.
They understand that preparing healthy food, more than a concern, is our obligation.
SAFETY POLICY
Since 2011, they have adopted the concepts of SAFE ADVENTURE (AVENTURA SEGURA), developed by ABETA: Brazilian Association of Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism, in order to establish our SGS: Safety Management System, with the purpose of minimizing the risk of accidents in the execution of the activities in nature.
Policy: ensuring a safe and harmonious experience, promoting a conscious conduct, integrating the visitors with Pantanal’s culture and biome.
Commitment: offering a quality product, with safety management in all offered activities, utilizing the natural resources in a sustainable manner, complying with the established good practices and current legislation.
Aware of the growing importance of ecotourism in the education and approximation of the modern man with nature, they significantly invest in the continuous improvement of our actions and in the qualification of the staff.
ACTIVITIES
Trekking in Environmental Trails
The walking tours allow for a closer observation of fauna details, such as footprints, nests and behavior of the wildlife, as well as the incredible flora of the Pantanal, with its amazing diversity of trees, fruit, flowers and seeds. The walking tours occur daily on one of our several trails (total 21km). In order to ensure the maximum safety of the tours, the trails are regularly inspected, providing well-being to the visitors, regardless of the age.
The Trekking in Environmental Trails are always accompanied by accredited guides, who are naturalists, bilingual and trained in first aid.
Horseback riding
The Horseback Riding is a unique experience to get to know Pantanal.
It is a traditional way to unravel the several environments in Pantanal. Visitors have the possibility of exploring the hard-to-access locations, mainly wet or flooded areas. Our troop of pure Pantaneiro horses has high reputation for their beauty and docility.
The tour is conducted at slow pace, gallop is not allowed, , meeting the limitations of beginners and maintaining the safety and comfort level.
The use of protection helmets is mandatory for riders under 16 years old.
Observation Tower
The lodge has three observation towers in its private reserve of approximately 3 thousand hectares. With varied heights, Igret Tower 11m, Jabiru Tower 13m, Howler Monkey 25m, enable a panoramic view of the Pantanal landscape and the rich detailing of wildlife on the treetops, such as monkeys and different birds.
Canoeing
The Canoeing enables the discovery of the riparian forest banks and the observation of birds and wild aquatic animals, such as giant river otters, otters and caimans. During the tour, there is great possibility of observing the rare Agami heron, also known as Agamia Agami.
Quiet and peaceful, this tour provides great connection with nature and does not require great physical effort, for being an activity conducted in areas without current.
The guests roar in two-seat Canadian canoes. For those who prefer, we have another canoe model in which the Guide roars.
Wearing life jackets is mandatory.
Photo Safari
Bring your photographic equipment and get ready to take the most amazing pictures you have ever imagined.
Conducted in especially adapted open vehicles, this ride enables the access to the farthest locations and a better fauna observation along the roads of Pantanal. During the photo safari, it is possible to observe a great variety of animals, such as anteaters, tapirs, foxes, marsh deer, among others. (Average duration of 2h and 30 min)
NIGHTDRIVE: offers the opportunity to observe nocturnal animals. One of the highlights is when the eyes of the caimans light up, producing an impressive red reflex. (Average duration of 1h and 30 min)
Observations of birds and wild animals
The nearly 3000 ha of private reserve of the Araras Lodge offer ideal conditions for the observation of birds and wildlife, in 5 main microsystems of the Pantanal: riparian forest, humid areas, flooding fields, acuri palm forest and dry forest.
More than 21 km of trails, 3 observation towers, 27 km of roads and 2 water courses ensure excellent opportunities of wildlife encounter.
We provide the guests with a list of the birds and animals found in the region.
