« Mercadito is my favorite experience because it lets travelers fully immerse in our unique culture, cuisine, and traditions. You even learn a little Spanish! We provide a shopping list, $10 in local currency, and drive you to a regional community market to find and select the best vegetables and spices for a traditional Olla de Carne stew. Followed by a hands-on cooking lesson with our Chef. This fun and engaging experience is a foodie’s dream treasure hunt! »

« Costa Rica’s traditional oxcarts are recognized by UNESCO as a precious cultural patrimony of humanity. Graced by intricate designs of kaleidoscopic beauty, they are the most iconic graphic elements of our heritage. I am proud that the roots of this art form can be traced to my hometown, the community of Sarchí (30 minutes away from El Silencio). I learned the technique from my grandparents and I am honored to share this emblematic art form with our guests. Teaching how to paint a memento of an oxcart wheel fills me with pride. »
