After its three-year, $18 million re-imagination and renewal, the beachfront Playa Del Carmen hotel provides an entirely new but incredibly authentic experience. The renovation resulted in an additional 74 individual palapa-style bungalows, bringing our hotel in Playa del Carmen's room count to 196, including Premium suites just steps from the beach and Standard rooms nestled in the Riviera Maya jungle.
The newly refreshed resort includes an array of on-site features, including Revive Spa at Mahekal, with individual and couples' treatment rooms, women and men's locker rooms, and complete with indoor and outdoor relaxation lounges plus a new fitness facility with all-new aerobic and strength training equipment. The resort's newest restaurant is Fuego Restaurante y Cantina, an oceanfront "Tulum-style" restaurant and cantina that utilizes a wood-burning oven. Newly crafted wedding, meeting and event venues span 4,500 square feet, providing dynamic, flexible room for unforgettable events. The recently revitalized Vida Aquática Dive Center offers expert-led dive tours, lessons and expeditions, and a soon-to-be-revamped gift shop promises Mahekal-brand beachwear and unique, locally procured art and gifts alongside the resort's enhanced artisan pottery hut.
Inspired by “GypSet Style,” Mahekal’s interior design embodies the bohemian gypsy lifestyle with colorful Mexican accents – including standout Missoni-esque patterns in the resort's eclectic lobby and fireplace seating area, along with bright orange ping pong tables and cobalt blue billiard tables in the main lobby bar and activity center.

BEACH HOUSE KING PLUNGE POOL
- Located on the ground floor and just 10 steps from the beach, this room features unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea and a wide terrace complete with a plunge pool, wooden table, chairs, and loungers.
- Inside the Beach House is a separate sitting area with a queen pull out sofa, and full bath; the adjacent bedroom has a King bed, with a mini-walk-in closet, large bathroom with 2 vanity sinks, indoor shower and an outside moon shower.
- Beach Houses have a roped off private beach area, decorated with palapa umbrellas, complete with a beach “butler” who stops by daily in the afternoon with two Coronitas, chips and house-made guacamole and salsa.

LA RESIDENCIA
- Located immediately adjacent to Mahekal’s new Revive spa, the 1 bedroom fully furnished apartment occupies the entire upper floor of a 6 unit building with a wood beamed, white plastered roof. Featuring a sitting/dining area, kitchen with stove top, microwave, apartment size refrigerator, and full-sized washer and dryer and a pull out queen sized sleeper sofa. A hallway leads to a separate sitting area with 2 day beds. (Ideal for the kids to sleep and play), and an adjacent King bedroom with a full bathroom. Off the kitchen area, it is available a connecting room ( additinoal reservation need it, not included on the rate of this room) with two queen beds full bathroom, that can be accessed from either the patio or kitchen/living area.
- To complete this Residence, the patio runs the length of the building with numerous hammocks, woven lounge chairs and outdoor patio dining/seating. In the evening enjoy tree lined views romantically lit with lanterns while gazing at the outdoor fire pit.

- Beach Haciendas were specifically created to be the ultimate 2-unit beach house at Mahekal. The units can be sold together or separately, locked off. When sold together, the features that make Las Haciendas unique are a seaside plunge pool, expansive outdoor decks, and our best beachfront location. Together these suites offer our largest space and private terraces with unobstructed Caribbean views and personalized beach concierge services.
- Hacienda del Mar is the master suite of Las Haciendas. This room features a King sized bed with a palapa style roof, the resort’s largest outdoor deck with spectacular sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. It occupies the premier site on the resort’s beach, which is the largest and prettiest beach in Playa del Carmen.
- Hacienda del Sol is the junior suite of Las Haciendas. This room features 2 Queen sized beds, a direct ocean front terrace with spectacular sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. Located steps from both the beach and the Las Olas pool.

- Newly refreshed, these Playa del Carmen guestrooms provide a true Yucatan experience and are perfect for couples or families traveling together. The La Familia Garden View Palapa Casitas are actually two individual free-standing Garden View Palapa casitas; one with a King bed; and the other with two Queen beds, under a thatched palapa roof. Each Garden View has is own terrace with hammocks; and the casistas share a large patio which connects them and a plunge pool. It's perfect for two couples who are vacationing together!. The two rooms are accessed through a wooden gate, ensuring a little more privacy. There is seating near the plunge pool, and a stone wall accents the plunge pool.
- The La Familia Garden View Casita rooms provide a relaxing retreat loaded with amenities, just steps from Boli's Bar and Itzi Poolside Bar, our lobby and the rest of Mahekal Beach Resort's on-site amenities, plus are just a short stroll to our palm tree lined beach.
