Awaken all the senses
WHALE SHARK DIVING
- Between April and June, majestic whale sharks migrate into the Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve, with divers and snorkelers following suit. If you visit Placencia in the spring, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to swim alongside these enormous and gentle creatures, which can easily be the size of a school bus.
GREAT BLUE HOLE VISIT
- No trip to Belize would be complete without a visit to one of Jacques Cousteau’s favorite places. The Great Blue Hole is a large sinkhole, long renowned for its stunning aerial and underwater views. Almost perfectly circular, the hole stretches 305 meters across and plunges 121 meters down, making for an awe-inspiring sight and site. Snorkelers can explore the fringing reefs, while divers can descend along the wall to a depth of 40meters.
BOCAWINA NATIONAL PARK
- There’s no shortage of adventure in Belize, but the truly intrepid will find themselves drawn to Bocawina National Park, where ziplining and waterfall rappelling are part of a typical day. The park offers 7,100 acres of lush jungle, a dizzying amount of wildlife, and ancient Maya sites. Your visit to the park, which will be customized to suit your adventure level, might include flying through the rainforest canopy on the country’s longest zipline, tracking jaguar and puma on a night hike, or rappelling 250 feet down the face of a rushing waterfall—no big deal.
